Lead Green
A Katonic project

About

A measurement, not a marketing claim

Lead Green exists to put one number in front of the people who buy, run and audit AI: the GPU energy it takes to serve a million tokens. It publishes the public measurements in one unit, explains what they mean, exposes them to software, and adds measurements of its own as they are made.

Who runs it

A Katonic project

Lead Green is run by Katonic, a company that builds a sovereign AI platform for enterprises, telcos and governments. Katonic meets the energy question on every on-premise deployment: a fixed power feed, a fixed GPU count, and a customer who wants to know how many tokens that buys. The index started as the answer the team wished existed.

Lead Green is not a separate company and not a product. It is a project with an editor, a method and a change record.

Publisher

Who publishes it, and how to reach them

  • Publisher. Katonic AI Technology Ltd, a company registered in the Dubai International Financial Centre, registration CL9944. Registered office: to be added, word for word from the DIFC registry extract, before launch. Jurisdiction: Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates.
  • Corrections, contributions and data requests. hello@leadgreen.ai, answered within ten working days.
  • Cite as. Lead Green, Green Tokens index, release 2026-09-27, Katonic, https://leadgreen.ai/index/, retrieved [date]. The full block is on the index.
  • Archive. Every dated release of the API is kept unchanged at https://leadgreen.ai/api/v1/releases/<date>/, with a zip of the whole release, so a citation can be reproduced after the index changes. The list is releases/index.json.

Independence

Who pays, and what they gain

Lead Green is run and paid for by Katonic, which sells a sovereign AI platform and benefits when buyers ask the questions on this site. It takes no money from hardware, cloud or model vendors.

  • Funding. Katonic pays for the site and the editor's time. Katonic sells an AI platform for on-premise and sovereign deployments. Weigh that when the site argues for consolidation or for measuring your own cluster.
  • Public or reproducible only. Every figure comes from a public measurement or a manufacturer's specification, dated, linked and snapshotted, or from a Lead Green measurement published with its protocol and logs.
  • No money from other vendors. Lead Green takes no sponsorship, advertising or paid placement from hardware, cloud or model vendors.
  • Katonic gets no special treatment. Nothing on the site claims that the Katonic platform measures energy per token until it does, and when Katonic publishes a measurement of its own it is labelled as Katonic's, with the same protocol and review as anyone else's. Any row Katonic measures is checked by a named reviewer with no Katonic affiliation, to be named here before the first Katonic row is published.
  • Corrections in the open. Errors are fixed on the page and recorded on the index's change list. Tell us and we will look.
  • No superlatives. The word "green" in the name is a direction, not a verdict. The site does not rank anyone as green.

In a tender

Using the index in a tender

Every figure on the index is public and reproducible from the source files linked in the sources ledger; Lead Green holds no data that is not on the page. If Katonic is a bidder in a tender that cites the index, cite the ML.ENERGY rows directly, use the compilation only for convenience, and disclose it. Suggested wording: "Floor values are taken from the ML.ENERGY Leaderboard v3.0 (The ML.ENERGY Initiative; Apache 2.0 per the ml-energy/benchmark-v3 dataset card) as compiled by Lead Green, a Katonic project (leadgreen.ai, CC BY 4.0, retrieved [date]). Katonic is a potential bidder; the evaluation panel has recomputed the values from the primary source and the scoring method does not depend on Lead Green." Katonic's own bids are held to the same clause and the same floor as anyone else's.

While Katonic is a bidder in a tender that cites the index, rows change only when a source publishes a dated release. Tenders cite a dated release, kept at https://leadgreen.ai/api/v1/releases/<date>/, so no later change can move a cited figure.
